We have just under 6 weeks to go until the marathon!!!!! I am getting so excited I can hardly take it….but I am also getting so tired…and hungry! It could be the heat or the fact that I am running earlier and not really going to bed earlier (note to self…STOP doing that)!
I would be pretty happy to start tapering right now :)…..but it is not time yet. I also feel like I could snack all day and still be hungry!
Friday I had a long run that went great, and Sat I did a recovery run.
Here is what this week looked like: 50.5 miles
Monday: 8 miles. 2 warm-up, 4 tempo, 2 cool-down. This was a good workout for me…all tempos were under 7, and the last was the fastest (1 right at 7)
Tues: 7.5 easy miles run. This was about 8:30 pace
Wed: 7.5 easy miles run
Thursday: 8 miles total. Hard…7 tempo miles with a 1 mile cool down. This was supposed to be 9 but I didn’t have time for the warm-up mile (bad, I know) so I skipped it. This was awesome for me. 7:11 was my goal pace for 50 minutes and I did 50 min at 7:09 pace
Friday: 12 miles moderate pace. My goal was at or under 8 and I did 12 miles at 7:48 pace. This is good for me after Thursday’s tempo!
Sat: 7.5 total recovery miles. Nothing under 9.
I am really happy with how this week went. I was especially happy with Friday’s long run after a tough run on Thursday. The only thing I do not love is how hard the recovery and easy miles feel. These hard runs are taking it out of me so that the easy runs…don’t actually feel that easy. Does that make sense? Does anyone else have that?
My easy runs get me worried that I will not be able to do my next hard run. They just don’t feel as easy as I wish they did…but oh well.
Tomorrow will be this week’s meal plan….I loved having that planned last week!!!!!!!!!!
