Shoes, foam rollers, and Pudding Pops!

I confess…..I have a running shoe fetish! I love running shoes and right now they are coming out with all kinds of new models! Yes, I am that person who could care less about any of my other shoes and the most expensive shoes that I own are my running shoes :). This last season I really took a liking to my Mizuno’s. While I do still really like this shoe (I still have a brand new pair ready to be used), I really want to give the Brook’s Pureflow a try! This particular pair has caught my eye!

9270 & 9271These don’t light up as far as I know…but this just cracks me up!

On another random note…..nothing motivates me to stretch and do my foam rolling like a hint of an injury! As soon as I feel like something is off I run to my foam roller 🙂 (something is off with my hip).

I do a lot better in the stretching department in the warmer weather. It is just nicer outside so I stay outside and stretch and I have more time. I also am better about icing and ice baths (which I HATE) in the summer. There is absolutely no way you are getting me in an ice bath after a run in the cold!

And let me tell you…it has been cold! We did this awesome science project on Monday where we boiled water and then brought it outside and threw it into the air and it turned into snow in the air…totally worked!…kinda hard to get pictures of, but here’s what we got

It was pretty cool!

Yesterday I was able to do 7 miles outside and it really wasn’t too bad but Monday was a treadmill day! I also have 2 races in mind that I am pretty excited about (more to come on them next week)!

My mind has for the most part been on our upcoming weekend! This weekend we will be traveling to Maryland and the final decision will be made on if and when we will be moving there! I am excited and anxious and a little nervous all at once. It helps me to remember that God has a plan for our family and knows all the details of the situation.

patienceNeedless to say, it is a pretty exciting time around here!

Onto my next random thing…

I LOVE my crock pot! Tonight’s dinner is chicken tacos. Super easy thanks to my crock pot!

To make:

2-3 lbs of frozen or thawed chicken breast

taco seasoning (I make my own but you can use a package)

16 oz oz Salsa

Put in all in the crock pot on high for 4-6 hours or low 6-8 hours. If you are using frozen you will need the longer time.

Add soft shell tacos, sour cream and some guacamole and YUM!

We also picked up these to make…..who didn’t love pudding pops as a kid?!

DSC_0378We also got our new car!!!! Nissan Quest. My first van! I think I am going to really like all the room! We won’t actually get it until next week, but I am still pretty excited!!!!

Any random things you want to tell me about…go!

Did you have Jell-o Pudding Pops as a kid?

I saw the same boiling water to snow experiment on the news a couple days ago – so crazy!

I you move to MD we definitely need to meet up and run =) (I hear MD isn’t quite as cold as the midwest either)

I know aren’t they really nice looking. I have been wanting to try the Brook’s pure line for awhile….but I like what I have too. I would love to meet for a run! That would be so fun….running goes by way faster when you can do it with someone!!! I have been comparing weather :)….and yes it is!

I also have a shoe fetish and I’m a Brooks junky. I need to check those out ASAP! I love the pics of the “snow throw” – so cool!! Congrats on the new car. I have a huge SUV and yes, you will love the room. More space for shoes.
My random thought: very excited to hire a personal trainer this week! I need help training for my big duathlon in May 😉

We must be suffering from the same post-marathon recovery aches & pains. My hip has been a little achy after my runs. It doesn’t hurt when I run, but I can feel it afterwards. Time to focus on strength and flexibility!! And, YES, my running shoes are definitely my nicest and most expensive shoes! When I’m not running – and it’s not freezing outside! – I prefer to go barefoot or rock the flops!

    • Jen says

yes that is totally how my hip is! I keep almost taking an extra rest day but it is not bad when I am running….but then when I stop I question whether or not I should have done that :)!
