THIS STORY just flat-out amazes me!
Gabi Ury, a 16-year-old girl from Boulder CO, held a plank for 1 hour and 20 minutes and 5 seconds!!!! That is just unreal to me! I have worked my way up to being able to hold a plank for 1 min and 45 seconds (yes…I have a weak core)…and I am totally sweating by this point too. She also used her attempt at the Guinness World Record title as a way to raise money for the hospital that treated her, pulling in over $50,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Colorado! What an inspiring young lady!
We have had such a great week so far. As far as running goes, I did a great 14 mile run at a 7:56 pace on Sat! It felt great from start to finish. Monday and Tues were easy/ comfortable pace 7 mile runs and today I did a progression run. Today’s run went like this: 8:02, 7:56, 7:43, 6:38, 6:49, 7:56, 7:57, 7:43. I was kinda hoping to have 1 or 2 more 1/2 marathon goal pace miles in the middle…but I didn’t. I shouldn’t have had the 6:38…it should have been more like 6:50…especially since it was 82 degrees. I need to work on adjusting my speed for temperature so that I don’t burn out. It is better to slow the pace and keep the workout the same than to change the workout…but it happens.
We had some really good family friends visit us for a few days and have just had such a great time! We all went to Gettysburg on Tuesday. That was my first time there and it was really neat! Wednesday we did a lot of work on our float that our church is doing for a Memorial Day parade. It is going to be awesome…I can’t wait to show you pictures!!! We also had a s’mores night!
My youngest, Courtney, just started violin lessons this week and she loves it. 🙂
I have another friend and her kids coming to visit on Sat… so I am super excited about that! Then next Sat is the Zooma Annapolis Half Marathon!
I am pretty excited for this too!!!…Just a lot of fun going on here!
