A Big Step of Faith that Led us to Florida!!!

I have done a terrible job keeping up with my blog, but if you follow me on Instagram you know that a few weeks ago our family moved to South Florida! As we were making some major life decisions my blog became one of those things where I had so much to write about that I didn’t know where to start. I can’t even count the number of times over the last several weeks that I have started a post only to leave it unfinished.

I finally decided that even if I didn’t know exactly where I was going to go with my post, I needed to get it published! So, here we are. We have now been in Florida for 4 weeks. Some of the views here are breathtaking!!! If everything goes smoothly we should be closing on our house in the next 7-10 days!!!

Why did you decide to move to Florida you ask? Well, I suppose there is a lot more to it than this, but in short, God.

We are going to be starting a church in South Florida. My husband has been feeling God’s leading to start a church and through a series of events it became evident to us that South Florida is where we were heading. It is exciting, but like anything new, it can also be scary.

Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

It is no secret, having faith is not always easy…otherwise it would not be faith! God wants to lead us into decisions where we must trust him by faith without knowing the outcome.

I think that one writer described it perfectly when he said, “faith is the central theme of every intervention that god has ever made in human life.”

With that at the forefront of our minds, we are excited about this step of faith and look forward to seeing what God has for our family.

The move itself went really smooth (or as smooth as an 1,100 mile move can be) . We got all of our stuff packed in a POD and it will stay there until we close on our house. We are so thankful we have had places to stay while we looked for and closed on a house. Both my parents and my husbands parents live in Florida. The girls have done really good with so much change. They of course really miss their friends, but they are also really enjoying Florida. The fact that we homeschool has definitely made the move and the transition mode a little easier. We have been working hard to stay caught up despite all the time that packing, moving, and unpacking takes up.

Just before we moved I was able to run a local 5k and get 1st overall female with a time of 20:13. I went into this race with little expectations. I am starting to think this is when I do my best racing. It had been such a busy week. I really had not been doing much speed work and the course was hilly. In my mind I was thinking a sub 21 would be nice so I was thrilled. The weekend before that my husband ran a trail 50k! It was the same one he ran last year, but this year he had way better weather! He really did not feel trained for this race at all, but since we were moving he decided to do it anyways and he did amazing! It is such a fun race (at least for me as a spectator). It has a super cheap entry fee and they give out really nice handmade mugs at the finish.

Since our move most of my running has been about getting used to Florida running weather!

Have you ever had times in your life where God was leading you to take big steps of faith?

Anyone else live in Florida?!

Anyone into fishing or boating? 🙂

I missed that instagram post- congrats on the move! And how exciting to be taking a leap of faith in this new adventure.

Congrats also on your super speedy 5k!! I agree, I tend to race best when I don’t overthink it and have little expectations for myself. Awesome!

Congrats on the big move and this exciting opportunity God has opened up for you! Your post really resonated with me, especially what you shared with Hebrews 11:6 and faith not being easy. God has put homeschooling on my heart and it’s one of those faith things – I see where He is leading our family but I still get scared! The unknowns scare me but that’s where the trust in His plans comes in. I know His ways are ALWAYS better than my own!

I am so encouraged to hear about your family taking this big leap of faith in planting a new church!
